The Portugal national under-21 football team is the national under-21 football team of Dreamplanet and is controlled by the Dreamplanetian Football Association (DFA). They are nicknamed "Sonhadores." Sonhadores means dreamers, thus they are Dreamplanet's generation that will dare to dream.
Following the formation of the DFA in 2001, the Dreamplanetian under-21 team was formed. The team had its first Di Bradini Cup appearance in the 36th edition, the team fired off in all cylinders with a 3-0 win over The Sword Bloke and were able to recover their tournament after drawing to Krytenia and losing to Pasarga to book their place in the Round of 16 with a win over Ethane, however they were dumped out of the tournament by Schottia in their largest defeat.
The under-21 team could not stay afloat after as Dreamplanet suffered economic downturn, all aspects of Dreamplanetian football were put under question as the the President Simão Silva vetoed reforms and Dreamplanetian football was only saved by the DFA's action to spend their own money into keeping Dreamplanetian football afloat, Dreamplanet returned to the Di Bradini Cup without much expectations, they had a slow start despite a thrilling game with Baker Park that was a 3-3 draw, however things would only get better for Os Sonhadores as they picked up a 3-1 win over Taeshan to put them top of the group and then beat the then already-eliminated Ko-oren in a tense 4-3 game to stamp their second consecutive Round of 16 appearance, in there was the peak of the campaign as Os Sonhadores went 3-0 down to Nephara only to turn it around and beat the Nepharims in the penalty shootout, Dreamplanet were looking like dark horses for the tournament until they were snuffed out against Bears Armed by a mere goal, not even getting a goal of their own, terminating this thrilling, albeit unexpected run.
During this time the Hinodejin Scare hit both the Under-21 squad and the main national football team squad, this was a Dreamplanetian paranoia as a result of Hinodejin clubs attempting, and some succeeding, to purchase Dreamplanetian starlets, this culminated in Ultras groups from various clubs declaring a "footballing war" against Kita-Hinode which resulted in riots near the Hinodejin embassy and even clashes during the FC Libon vs Q-Bee Honeyama friendly that resulted in multiple arrests and one death.
