Koninstad (Dutch pronuncation: [ˌkɔnˈɪnˈstɑt]) is capital city and n-th largest city of the Kingdom of Noordenstaat. It is located in a valley on the River Woon in Hoofdstad Province. Koninstad is also seat of the Noordenstaat's monarchy.

In 2016 population census, Koninstad had 924,223 citizens. The majority were Noordeners (92%). Other groups included Fyngarians (4%), Haguenavians (2%) and Aurorans (2%).

Transport

Koninstad has extensive public transport system based on buses and trams. It is administered by OVB Koninstad, in cooperation with various private companies. Transport fares are paid with a system of contactless cards called OVB Kaart. The city is connected by railway station with many cities in Noordenstaat and Lorecia. Koninstad also has main bus station, though this is not the most popular way of travel.

Education and science

Koninstad has an extensive system of education with many state run schools and colleges. The oldest institution of higher education, the Koninstad Royal University was founded in 1564 in the city and now it is the biggest university in this part of the nation. The city also has numerous elementary and high schools, mostly owned by the state. Although not in majority, private owned schools are also popular, specifically religious and foreign schools.
