The Confederate faction (Faldarunic: ᛒᛆᚿᛑᛆᛘᛂᚿᚿᛋᚡᛂᛁᛐᛁᚿ, tr. Bandamennsveitin) is one of the main political factions in Faldarun. Generally in favour of the Faldarunic status quo and espousing democratic confederal ideas, the faction has effectively dominated Faldarunic politics for much of the post-revolution period. Further, the faction generally endorses non-interventionism and a policy of armed neutrality, however this can differ from member to member, as some members of the faction are much more bellicose than others. Like almost all Faldarunic factions, they believe in social, rather than private, ownership of the means of production.

Since late 2011, the faction has for the most part coalesced around Mikaela Ólafsdóttir, who in August 2012 was elected as the 17th Lawspeaker of Faldarun, replacing the previous Lawspeaker Ráðúlfr Vilhjalmsson, another Confederate. Under Mikaela's leadership, the faction, and Faldarun as a whole, has drifted closer to Nerotysia and has renewed it's hostile relations with Khornera, with many touting that the leader had abandoned her faction's policy of non-interventionism. Regardless, the faction still contains many members who shun military activity, such as Mamadou Hilmarsson, the current Commissary for Energy.

After the announcement that she would step down from her position as Lawspeaker a year early, Mikaela has somewhat also left her faction's political ring, and her successor is not yet clear, although Hilmarsson, Elfa Sigurðsdóttir - the faction's nominee in the recent election - and Dayo Steinsson are well-supported in the faction. The Confederate faction has occupied the position of Lawspeaker eleven times, significantly more than the other factions combined, and holds five of the twelve current Commissariat positions in the Executive Council of Faldarun.
