Aleksandar II of Nikolia (Aleksandar Konstantin Petar Petrov-Stefanović; born 26th August 1964) is the current King of Nikolia. He succeeded the throne upon death of his mother, Queen Viktorija II on 7th of June 1990. As heir apparent he held the title of Crown Prince of Nikolia and Duke of Sirmia and was coronated on 14th of June 1990 at the age of 26.
In 1986 he married Irena, Duchess of Kalaria with whom he has three children: Konstantin (1987), Miroslav (1992) and Natalija, Princess of Nikolia (1998).
Birth and early life
Aleksandar was born at 14:24 in Royal University Hospital in Carigrad on 26th of August 1964 to Queen Viktorija II and Uroš, Duke of Podunavia. He was long awaited child of Queen Viktorija II as she was 35 when she gave birth to him.
As Crown Prince of Nikolia, Aleksandar had a very busy childhood. He had personal teachers in languages, sociology and politics, whilst attending public schools in Carigrad. He attended the Royal Naval Academy in Beograd and later became officer of the Nikolian Royal Navy. He served 4 years onboard the destroyer HMNiS "Princ Radoslav" after which he returned to his royal duties.
During the 80's, Aleksandar started his public work, visiting various parts of Nikolia, from officials to ordinary people, often paying surprise visits to the Nikolian villages and farmlands, building a strong image for himself as person of the people. During his visit of Ister, he met with Duchess Irena of Kalaria, which he later married in 1986 in a lawish ceremony with over 200,000 people assembled on the Carigrad streets.
