History
On the 1st of November 1922, following the forced abdication and exile of the Ottoman Sultan by Ataturk, Sharifistan declared independence from Turkey with key Sharifistani political leaders stating that their "respect for Ataturk as a war hero and support for his desire for an independent state" but also their "desire for an independent Sultanate ruled according to Islamic law" as well as offering a "military alliance with Turkey" which lasts to this day. Later Sharifistan joined the Allied Side in World War Two due to their war against Italy.
politics
Sharifistan has a multi-party parliament (the Majilis ash-Shura) but is ruled by a Sultan. In times when there is no Sultan or they are unable to rule a Prince-Regent is in charge.
