The Onager class Escort Carrier is a light carrier design in service with the Imperial & Federal Navy, intended to operate directly with the heavy ships of the wall, rather than separately. Unlike the Hood class fleet carrier, which will generate launch its strike craft from a significant distance, and require the craft to travel FTL to reach the engagement zone, the Onager class operates in close proximity with the fleet. The Onager class is primarily designed to provide a dedicated group of fighters to provide aerospace superiority to the fleet, as well as anchoring the fleet's anti-strike craft defences. As such, the Onager is relatively well armed for a carrier, boasting a significant number of anti-strike craft weapons.
