Ryan (surname)

Ryan (previously Rys and Rhÿs and later Anglicized as Ryan) is the personal surname of the descendants of King Dirk I of Cordonia. The House of Ryan was named after the surname. Dirk I proposed and ratified the change during World War II to distance the Cordonian royal family from their German ancestry, similar to that of the British and other European royal families. Cordonian persons who use a royal title and style do not need to use a surname according to the Constitution of Cordonia, but Ryan is used when one is needed.

The following people have used the surname Ryan:

• Jennifer, The Duchess of Moselle, née Jennifer Dunham – As an American citizen, foreign titles are not recognized. On her American passport and California driver's license, it reads Jennifer Emily Ryan.
• Prince Leonardo, The Duke of Moselle – When he abdicated the throne he briefly used the name Leonardo Ryan as a private citizen (although he never lost his title of prince or style of HRH). When he married American businesswoman Jennifer Dunham (see above) and moved to the United States, he has used the name Leonardo Theodore Karl Ryan on his green card.
• King Liam – used the name Liam Ryan during a lawsuit against British tabloids for invasion of privacy while visiting New York in 2018.

The default surname for royal family members is Ryan but is not usually used as Cordonian royal family members don't require a surname on Cordonian papers and simply use their title and style.
