Outline of "Alt." History

Bessharia

Bessharian Flag

- Largely the same for good chunk of it's history
other possible idea is that remains largerly a few disunited Khanates, under the suzernarity of a bunch of different folks - possibiliy with one of the larger, Shangea backed khanates simply eating the smaller ones?)
- Following the great war, pissed that it's being planned to merge with it's neighbor - bunch of folks are like "damn socialism is cool!" b/c they've just always wanted their own independence
- Becomes safe haven for SE Coius communists - hiding them out in the steppe and highlands.
- Especially w/ Lav + Dez falling to communism, thinks its a great time to do that too.

- Rebels against Hacyinian government.
- Inter socialist power struggles, Equalists end up winning handly and lead the new Equalists Peoples Republic of Bessharia (EPRB).
- succeeds in goal of breaking away from Hacyinia, establishing breakway independent state; international recognition was that the two states were united
- On the Equalist side of things for AIS, loses support of wider AIS as equalism falls out of favor.
- Frequent clashes/border conflicts/conflicts with former other half of Hacyinia
- As AIS support drys up, looks over at fellow punch drunk opponent and says "draw?"
- Officially drops socialist ideology, pretty much everybody is the same person in power sans a few bigger names
(Influences: Communist Mongolia, Communist Central Asia, Communist Afghanistan)

Khorbaga/Kharbaga

K Map
K Map, zoomed in

Etmology: Paradarian - "low or marshy" + garden, reference to the lush agricultural lands near lake zinabad. some state that its actually -boga from Ziba, meaning land so just "low land" Alt: Kop 314,728.96 km2 area

- also largely the same for good chunk of it's history
- obvs colonized by Gaullica
- Gaullican retained traditional power strcuture from Aguda - where they let local elites rule
- basically let a Khan rule over the equailvent of the Government of the Nguyễn dynasty
-- Gaullicans forced alt. branch of the family onto the throne when colonization happened
-- more or less acted as the enforcers of the colonial empire in SE Coius (?)
-- pretty significant euclean influence
- Estmere merged this spot and Bessharia together following the great war. ("They seem civlilized enough, let them run this shitshow")
-- khanate was like "uhh alright cool cool" and rolled w/ it at first and was a propononet of it
- Bessharia went red, conflicts broke out between khanate and Bessharia pretty much immediately
- Khanate had to survive on it's own for a while, some support internationally
- also punch drunk by the 90s rolled around, "wanna give that unification thing a try?"
- agreed to monarch abiding by new consutition, but, same as Bessharia - lots of the same people in power
- khan gets increasingly mad at arrangment, starts refusing to collaborate with other dual executive from Bessharia; wants out
(Azerbaijian, khanates of khiva/bukhara, khwarazam, iranian regions bordering caspin sea)

Yoloten

- Etmology: "a place to cross", reference to functioning as a transition point between traditionally Bessharian and Khorbaghi lands.
- a land of sharply rising elevation as the realatively lowerlands of Khorbagh rises to the plateu of the great steppe
- also home to peoples who had been sandwiched between the nomadic Kazakh/Mongolian
-- Minorities such as !Yaghobnis, !Karapakalks, as well as Badist Oroqmen and Irfanic Majgars are in the majority. (Since they don't subscribe to any of the traditional patronage/power networks in the country, "they're ungovernable")
- disenfranchised, poorer markers of health, etc. etc.
- primary base of nonstate actors within the country, militias and warlords here are vry common due to limited state involvement.
- Yoloten is a big area, ~100,000km2, size of Oregon/South Korea
-

Head of State stuff

- Couple of "royal clans" exist within the country, basically some sort of either formal/semi or informal system in which the next Khan is taken from the heads of these clans. Sort of an elective monarchy, not a federal monarchy.
- Royal clan in power is the Khan until ??? (either death, or, fairly lengthy time [20 yrs?]). Royal clans not in power still important, still function as regional leaders albeit subordinate to the Khan.
- Obvs some issues here, royal clans not in power want to be the khan while the clan as Khan doesn't want to give up power. Historically some issues w/ succession?? Sorta chilled out over the years
- The alternative style is: One de-facto clan who will be and always be the Khan, other clan leaders form the council and elect who the next Khan will be. The other non-royal clan leaders (Noyans? Beys?) still function as important, heredity governors of the country.
