Jormundkaar (Jormundea Auto Group until 1972) is an Ottonian automobile manufacturer. The company is a subsidiary of the Ottonian multinational conglomerate Svaartaron. It is the third-largest Ottonian automaker by volume, typically competing with Vulksmotor for the second place in the market after Ottomoto.
Jormundkaar is a North Ottonian automobile manufacturer. Initially founded as a state-run industry for the United Jormundsea Republic within the Federation of Ottonian Republics, in 1978 the company was privatized as a worker's cooperative.

History
History
Jormundkaar was preceded as Svaartaron's automotive business venture by the eponymous Svaartaron Auto Company until 1950. In 1950, with the domestic auto vehicle market decimated and Svaartaron facing considerable expense in rebuilding factories damaged by warfare, the SAC was shuttered and its assets were liquidated in a sale to the Ottonian federal government. Those assets would be used to form the Ottonian National Motor Company.
By 1960 the rebuilding effort was well underway and the Ottonian economy was recovering. Rather than attempt to reopen the now-defunct Svaartaron Auto Company, Svaartaron instead bought out the much smaller Polaris and Monta Motorsport companies, consolidating them into the Jormundea Auto Group.
Over time, due to the climate in the Ottonian North and Northwest, Jormundkaar began to focus more and more on safety features, off-roading, and all-wheel drive technology for their vehicles. As a result, by the early 2000's Jormundkaars, specifically Monta and Polaris vehicles had built a strong reputation within Ottonia for their safety and surety in hazardous road conditions, and, especially in the case of Monta, for their utility as off-road vehicles.

The Monta brand operated by Jormundkaar generally offers the lowest price-point vehicles in the company. The brand is derived from the Monta Motorsport Company, which was one of the two originally bought by Svaartaron in 1960. Even prior to the buyout, Monta had focused largely on building off-road and rugged vehicles at home in the frequently inclement conditions found in the north of Ottonia. Once Monta was integrated into Jormundkaar, it was focused specifically on relatively inexpensive off-roading and rugged vehicles

Economy marque

Sleipnyr

Founded as the racing division of Jormundkaar in 1967, Sleipnyr began its history as a public consumer brand in 1972, marketing a private driver version of its highly decorated rally vehicle the Sleipnyr RX1, which was in turn based off the successful 1954 Monta Billy, which had done well as a production vehicle used in rallying. In the modern era, there are only a few models offered under the Sleipnyr marque in a few segments, all built for performance.
