Hindia Belanda, a former colony of Noordenstaat, is a constitutional monarchy. The Queen, currently Anne-Charlotte II who resides in Noordenstaat, serves as the ceremonial Head of State of Hindia Belanda and is represented in the country by a Governor-General, who is currently Maryam Rahmadisoerja. The person of Anne Charlotte II is equally monarch of Hindia Belanda and Noordenstaat, acting as the personal embodiment of two separate Crowns being distinct legal entities from one another. She is thus styled as "Anne Charlotte II of Hindia Belanda" within the Commonwealth of Hindia Belanda and is theoretically addressed and styled as such when she represents the Hindia Belandan state in Hindia Belanda or abroad. Political convention developed in the past four decades commands that the monarch of Hindia Belanda can never represent the Hindia Belandan state when abroad, as all prerogative powers are delegated to the Governor-General who fulfils this representative role.
Royal prerogatives of the Queen are delegated to and exercised by the Governor-General, who serves the Commonwealth in her name. Some of these powers are further exercised by the elected government of Hindia Belanda and allocated amongst Ministers of the Crown, including the Prime Minister. Empowered by royal prerogatives, the Governor-General and Ministers of the Crown sit together in the cabinet, which is a committee within the Council of State, the highest executive body in the Commonwealth. Since the emergence of the principle of viceregal impartiality in the early 1950s, the Governor-General no longer attends cabinet meetings in person despite being organisationally a part of which.
