Demitor, commonly called the "Black Flag Nation," is a nation in the far northwest in Anteria. The nation is a Fascist State.
History
Early Demitor
Originally a group of tribes, the word "Demitor" came from the old term "Demitoriaus," which in Demitorian meant "Conquerer." These tribes were mostly independent, forming city states and mostly governing themselves. They were subdued by the Empire of Tettrad through mostly shows of force and saber rattling. The last city state to fall fell in early 1810, starting the Tettradian Occupation. The existence of a independent Demitorian state began with the independence of the state from the Empire of Tettrad on January 18th, 1871, following the Tettradian Coup of 1871. The many city states in what is now Demitor took advantage of this and broke away from the Tettradian empire and established a loose confederacy. The confederacy at this point was only a loosely grouped bunch of city states without a central authority. Numerous attempts at early unification were unsuccessful, with the notion of being "Demitorian" not as prevalent as for the city's states survival. The many city states had actually fought among each other for control of the Carrackian river, which the most dominant city state in the Confederacy, Carrack, controlled all access to the seas beyond via the river.
Tettradian War
The Empire of Tettrad, acting to take back what territory it lost in the coup, launched the Tettradian Offensives of 1880, quickly taking back a lot of lost territory and city states. This again forced the many city states to band together to fight off Tettrad, as there wasn't any sentiment towards the old empire. The old empire showed its age, though, at the Battle of Carrack (1882), in which the forces of the Tettradian empire were annihilated by a combined force made up of the remaining city states. The states united under Vladmirir Penick, a radical ultranationalist who wishes to see any opposition to the creation of the Fenarrian State and the supremacy of the Fenarrian people over all. Even though he was considered a extremist, he was the state’s best chances, and they took a gamble on him.
Empire
The gamble turned out to be a minor success as the new nation went from a small collection of loosely united states into one large united nation. The
