Plot
Esah Basuki and Naazil Nadeem are introduced as kids during an impromptu soccer game in the slums of Singana. They are on the verge of winning, but Naazil gets hurt after running into a player on the opposite team. Since that event, Naazil has a prejudice against the sport. Meanwhile, Esah returns home and watches the Siniapore national team in the 2010 World Cup.
Ten years later, Intan, Esah's sister, accepts a job abroad at a marketing firm in Sulifa and experiences the hype surrounding the upcoming World Cup during a party with her coworkers. Excited, she calls Esah and encourages him to save money so he can attend the tournament. Esah goes into his next shift at the garment factory with anticipation to make enough money to travel, where he is shocked to learn he is being laid off. Feeling defeated, he wanders through the streets of the slum when he comes across a soccer tournament. A participant at the game recognizes Esah and strikes up a conversation with him, where he reveals there is a competition underway for the prize of tickets to the World Cup. Rushing home, Esah calls up Naazil and proposes getting their old soccer team back together, which sends Naazil into an over-exaggerated flashback of his injury.
Esah arrives at a station to register for the tournament, and it seems that Naazil will not show up, but he does and the two of them register together. After a terrible encounter with Fawzia, he becomes their team coach, though also horrid at soccer. More friends of Esah's and Naazil's are recruited and join, but the team increasingly looks like a failure
During a team-training session led by Fawzia, two soccer experts, Labeeb and Vernan are introduced and drill the team into practice. Esah leaves the practice after an argument with Naazil, and is robbed of his belongings in the slum. He joins a group of construction workers for a meal, where he reveals details about his upbringing and the death of his parents. He and Intan became orphaned at a young age, and Esah struggled to support the two of them, finding solace through soccer.
The first game for the competition comes around, and Esah's team struggles to cooperate and work through proper techniques, allowing the opposing team to gain the upper hand. When it seems like the game will end in defeat, Naazil puts a goal through and they tie the game. A break that invigorates the team and allows for a win in overtime puts them within one game of winning the competition.
Esah receives a call from Indah, who asks how the endeavor to make money for the World Cup is going. When Esah reveals his method to achieve the tickets, Indah berates him, leading to Esah hanging up. He expresses his frustrations in an outburst to Naazil, who reconciles their friendship and forgives Esah, acknowledging his strive to achieve his dreams.
In their final game, the team performs exceptionally better through greater cooperation and drills. Esah and Naazil especially are seen to have grown in their teamwork, with Naazil's pass to Esah resulting in the game winning goal. The prize is presented, with the revelation that there are only two tickets to the World Cup. The team is collectively shocked, but Esah introduces the idea that they sell the tickets instead and share the profit equally. Naazil and other teammates protest, reiterating Esah's lifelong dream to witness the World Cup firsthand and encouraging him to go with his sister. Esah appreciates the offer, but ultimately the team agrees and sell the tickets. Esah calls Indah, letting her know about the decision. Indah is surprised and upset at first, but accepts her brother's decision.
Esah and the team pool the money from the tickets, which garner nearly 20,000 dollars, and renovate the soccer park in the Singana slum.
