The Duke has been involved in controversy since 2022 over the custody battle of [[Princess Eleanor]], the heir apparent to the Skavandian throne. Under 17th-century Skavandian law, the houses of Skavand may strip the monarch and their spouse of custody of the heir apparent if they believe that the best interest of the child is not being fulfilled by the royal family. Beaumont has initiated the process but since the vote was not unanimous, the custody decision will not take affect until 1 January 2023.
