The 1919 Tofino Earthquake, sometimes referred to as the Great Zian Tremor, was a 8.7-magnitude earthquake which occurred on January 12th, 1919 with an epicenter four miles off the coast of Zian, Zamastan, at a depth of 5 miles below the Valium Inlet in Horseshoe Bay. High-intensity shaking was felt from Wingerton to the northwest, Sutton to the west, and Elkford to the east. Devastating fires soon broke out in Tofino and across the surrounding cities, and lasted for several days. More than 50,000 people died, and over 40% of the city of Tofino was destroyed. The event is remembered as the deadliest earthquake worst natural disaster in the history of Zamastan.
