Rosemary Manning (born 25 November, 1951) is an Esthursian politician who served as the Leader of the Againsthood between 2018 and 2024, as well as Leader of the Moderates and Leader of the Conservative Union.
Positioned on the centrist wing of the Conservative Union, Manning was the ringleader of the group who voted against the Einarsson administration's tuition fee bill, which in turn led to the downfall of his government and the ensuing electoral defeat. Manning won the leadership election following the 2018 Esthursian general election, after a bruising defeat to the incumbent Social Democrats, and moved the party towards the centreground in order to win back support from disillusioned voters. She resigned in January 2024 following two electoral defeats - though the party fended off challenges from the left and right during this time, staying relatively stable in vote share and seat counts - and resignations following her controversial positions on immigration and refuge in 2023, with former loyalist and pro-immigration candidate Jowan Perran succeeding her.
Early life
Manning was born in 1951 in Oaksbeck, to an upper-middle class family living in the suburbs of the city.
