Relations between the Constitutional Monarchy of Aquitayne and the United Kingdom of Aswick and Scotia have ranged from military opponents to close allies since the mid-1500's. Aquitayne and Aswick were both subjugated states under the Empire of Exponent, with both winning their independence during the Aquitaynian revolution in 1742. Since then, Aswick and Aquitayne - as close neighbors in Loercia - have largely stood side by side with one another throughout history. Most political analysts agree that Aquitayne and Aswick share a Special Relationship, codified in the 1961 Aswickan Guarantee which states Aquitayne will come to the defense of Aswick should its soveriegnty be threatened.
