It was held on 12 August 1989 in Dansig, Andlin following Marie Keier's victory for the country at the 1988 contest with the song "Randez-vous". The event marked the third time Andlin had hosted the contest. It was hosted by Ændlisk Fjernsyn (ÆF) and organised by the National Radio-Television Council (CNRT), and presented by Marie Keier.
