The High King is a primarily ceremonial position, with the Vozhsk constitution ascribing them no royal prerogative or executive functions. The High King's official duties include representing Vozh in a diplomatic function, acting as a personal manifestation of the Vozhsk nation, and managing lands held by the Royal Estate.

The Monarchy of Vozh, often called the Vozhsk Royal Household, is the constitutional monarchy of Vozh. The title of the incumbent is "High King of the Vozhski" (Vozhsk:Viarchoŭnych Karalioŭ Vozhskaha) and serves as the country's Head of State. The current High King, Elisaveta II ascended to the throne on 2 April, 2083, upon the death of her uncle, the High King Paul III.

History

The modern Vozhsk monarchy was established upon the dissolution of the Republic in 1916, with the coronation of Mikol I. It draws many of its traditions from the rulers of the Vyatichi Maritime Empire, considered a golden age by Vozhsk nationalists.

Role

Traditions

As part of its homage to Vozh's Vyatichi traditions, the Vozhsk royal family is formally recognized as belonging to the Vyatich clan. Mikol I and his descendants were formally adopted into the clan on 16 July, 1916 This gives the Vozhsk monarch pretense to claim lordship over the dozens of Vozhsk clans confederated under Clan Vyatich. Following the tradition of the ancient Vyatich kings, the High Kings are coronated on the deck of a warship. Only Catholics belonging to the Vozhsk autocephalous church are permitted to hold the crown.

Titles

Most royal and lordly titles in Vozhsk are unisex. However, they follow male grammar rules, and are thus usually translated into other language as masculine. Thus a female monarch holds the title "High King", and not "High Queen". The full style of the Vozhsk monarch is: "By the Grace of God, High King of the Vozhski, King of the Mountains, Prince of the Venedi and the Jeheri, Prince of Wolf-Rothenburg, the Protector of the Musulmeni and the Jews, Sheriff of the Sacred Places, Lord of the Islands, and President of the Federation"
