Petroleum is an important commodity and energy source in Septentrion. The regional petroleum industry is concerned with the process of exploration, extraction, transport, and refining of crude oil and its derivative products. In addition to its use as fuel, petroleum is also refined into plastics, pharmaceuticals, solvents, fertilizers, pesticides, and a range of other chemical products. In 2017, total petroleum consumption in the region amounted to -- billion barrels, or about --- million barrels per day, on average.

List of countries by oil production

The table below lists current estimates for oil production in Septentrion. All data are from 2017, and are calculated by dividing total oil production over the course of the year by 365. This averaging process removes day-to-day and seasonal fluctuations in the rate of oil extraction, for example due to price changes or maintenance shutdowns. Figures are listed in barrels per day, or bbl/day.

The figures refer specifically to crude oil and lease condensate collected at the wellhead, rather than measurements of oil volume further down the refining process, and do not include biofuels or other synthetic petroleum products.
