The Royal Transcandar Armed Forces, RTAF (Transcandarian: Kraliyet Çandaröte Silahlı Kuvvetleri, KÇSK) are the military forces of the Principality of Transcandar. They consist of the Army, the Navy and the Air Force. The Gendarmerie and the Coast Guard, both of which have law enforcement and military functions, and operate as components of the internal security forces in peacetime, and are subordinate to the Ministry of Interior. In wartime, they are subordinate to the Army and Navy. The Prince of Transcandar is the military's overall head.

The military ranks of the Transcandarian armed forces have similarities with other Asuran military ranks. The highest-ranking officer in the Transcandarian military is the Chief of Defence (Transcandar), who is a four-star officer (NATO OF-9).

History

Conscription, budget, international operations

Transcandar currently does not maintain universal compulsory military service. Every fit Transcandarian citizen otherwise not barred is encouraged to serve in the military for a period ranging from three weeks to a year, dependent on education and job location. However benefits are given to people who plan on a career in the military. In the case of conscription Transcandar did not recognize conscientious objection until 2007. Women may serve in the Transcandarian military, but cannot be conscripted. According to government news sources, in 20017, Transcandar spent 1.8% percent of G.D.P. on its military, or about $6.120 billion.

Component forces and their organization

Royal Transcandarian National Defense General Staff

The Royal Transcandarian National Defense General Staff, carries out the operational commanding of the Joint Headquarters and the units that come under them, as well as the rest forces, when it comes to the issues of operation plans implementation and the Crises management System implementation, conduction of operations outside the national territory and participation of the Armed Forces in the confrontation of special situations during peace time.

Royal Transcandarian Army

The basic components of the Royal Transcandarian Army are Arms and Corps, the first responsible for combat missions and the latter for logistical support. It is organized in Commands, formations, and units with the basic being brigade, division and corps. Its main mission is to guarantee the territorial integrity and independence of the state.

Royal Transcandarian Navy

The Royal Transcandarian Navy possesses a powerful fleet, consisted of strike units (Frigates, Gunboats, Submarines and Fast Attack Guided Missile Vessels) and support vessels in order to conduct naval operations that ensure the protection of Transcandarian territories.

Royal Transcandarian Air Force

The Royal Transcandarian Air Force incorporates a modern air fleet (for combat, transportation and training), the congruent structure, as well as a modern system of air control, which cooperates with a widespread net of anti aircraft defense. The structure of its forces includes the General Staff of Air Force, the Command Post of Regular Army, the Air Support Command, the Air Training Command and a number of units and services.

Royal Transcandarian Gendarmerie

The Royal Transcandarian Gendarmerie is responsible for the maintenance of the public order in areas that fall outside the jurisdiction of police forces (generally in rural areas), as well as assuring internal security and general border control along with carrying out other specific duties assigned to it by certain laws and regulations. The Gendarmerie is essentially a governmental armed security and law enforcement force of military nature.
