Early Life
Giovanna Zanetti Gottschalk was born on the 12th day of October 1978. Her father, Alberto Gottschalk, was a machine operator at a automobile factory. Her mother, Cristina Zanetti, worked as a teller in a bank. At the age of 18 Giovanna graduated from high school. At the age of 19, Giovanna passed the entrance exam of the Federal University of Santa Catarina, where she attempted to pursue a degree in history - her childhood dream job was to be a professor. However, at college Giovanna discovered another passion - Music. After learning how to compose electronic songs, Giovanna dropped out of college and began her career as a musician under the name of "DJ Giulia". She created Techno and Dance songs, which were all the rage in Brazil at the moment. Although her songs were well received by the critics, her career simply did not take off, perhaps due to a lack of advertising, or due to the oversaturation of the genre.
Entry in Politics
Giovanna joined the world of politics when she still was a college student, joining the youth ranks of the Brazilian Communist Party (the PCB). However, as Giovanna grew older, she became more and more doubtful of the party's capability of starting a class war (as proposed by the PCB leadership). As such, she joined the Brazilian Socialist Party in 2004. In 2005 Giovanna abandoned her career in the music industry. She began working as a bureaucrat for the state of Santa Catarina, thus obtaining a stable job which paid better than her previous profession.
