Built in Gladysynthia in 2003 and originally named after Premiere Malcolm Kirchner, it was intended to be the sister ship of the GHS Clarkson. Gladysynthia sold the ship to Elbresia in 2004 after construction costs ran high and the ship was only partially completed. Elbresia opted for the purchase of the Kirchner over the older Zamastanian vessel Hamilton-class ZMS Houfeld due to price differentials, and the Houfeld was later purchased by the Caspiaan Navy.
