Albert Sagaru U Khine Caelum (20 May 1923) is the current ruling Duke of Caernarvon and is a prominent member of the Bethausian Royal Family. As a young man, he lived in the shadow of his elder brother, Henry Louis. He is the only member of the Bethausian Royal Family to be a Lucian noble.
Albert was born in Caernarvon and is the second child of Grand Duke William Edwardius I and Judit Valpuri Yadanar. Unlike his elder brother, Albert showed loved to his parents more, leading him to be often tutored by his father and mother. Among his siblings, Albert was considered the smartest, even more powerful than his brother. He refused to interfere in Bethausian political affairs as his mother had advised him to. Instead of attending a military academy, he chose to attend the prestigious University of St. Georgius, graduating with masters degree in Law. He also chartered Bethausia's first Toastmasters club in 1950, being a member of the Caernarvon Toastmasters Club in 1943 to 1947. He also grew up to be his siblings true elderly brother figure, being that his elder brother had chosen to take to the battlefield, leading Henry's poor relationship with his younger siblings.
When Bethausia was liberated, he travelled together with his family to Kengkaw, where he subsequently opened a law firm. In early 1960s, as his father's health was deteriorating, Albert gained his father's full confidence to entrust his properties. Although Henry was the first in line to the throne, Albert gained his father's properties and businesses in both Bethausia and in the UK. This heavily upset Henry Louis, who wrongly assumed that he would inherit his father's fortune. Their mother had heavily pleaded with their father to give the Lucian title to Albert, being that he was the only one that she trusted the most. Henry accused his parents of favouring Albert more than him but their father was only trying to save the family legacy from getting into the wrong hands. William died in September 1965 and Albert was given the ducal crown of Caernarvon in a small ceremony, which also caused Albert to inherit his father's properties.
In the early reign of his elder brother, He and his younger sister, Princess Victoria were engulfed in a conflict with their brother over giving political power to the Tatmadaw. This conflict between the siblings would last until 1969, when Henry stripped Albert of any right to inherit the Bethausian throne. This resulted in Victoria and the rest of their siblings renouncing their titles in protest and left for the UK with their mother, taking with them their father's body to be reinterred at Harrington Palace, where their father spent his days as a boy. They lived in Caernarvon as Albert now became a patron of many Lucian-Bethausian communities in the UK who fled Bethausia in the face of Henry's militaristic rule. His mother Judit had comically called Albert as King of Bethausia-in-exile, seeing as his work in the UK and mentoring aspiring toastmasters was something that her late husband, William would be proud of.
In 1990, Bethausia was in the midst of a strong anti-government protest. His nephew, the future William Edwardius II, who had also been influenced by his father's militaristic upbringing, asked for his son's safety, fearing that his grandfather's influence would do him no good. Without Henry's knowledge, Prince William Edwardius fled to the UK and came under the tutelage of his granduncle. Albert came to know the young William more and they developed a close bond. He taught him many lessons that his father had taught him, hoping that the young William would grow in the way that his Great-grandparents would have wanted. Albert subsequently sponsored Prince William Edwardius' entry to the University of St. Georgius.
Albert's influence on the young boy would help him reverse his grandfather's influence in Bethausia at the conclusion of the FUA Crisis. In the advent of the rising influence of the Global Neoconservative Movement, Albert called out Bethausia's ruling government. In 2025, the Bethausian government forced William Edwardius III to abdicate and the royal family subsequently fled to the UK. In one of his last acts prior to retirement, Albert created the Bethausian Decree, which was honoured by the Heimdallr Council that in the event that Bethausia was finally free from Neocon influence, the monarchy was to be restored.
