Lait City, until 1920: Laithitaus; is the capital of Besmenia and with a population of 2,7 millions the largest city in the country. The city is one of the 12 federal states in Besmenia. It borders the state of Metakumburg in the north. With an area of 920 km2, the city is one of the largest cities in Belisaria. The Leina river runs through the city.

History
Before 1831
Lait City was first mentioned in the 12th Century under the name "Laithitaus".
Laithitaus in the Kingdom of Besmenia
Laithitaus was a prosperous city at the time of the pre-civil war and was home to many factories after the Industrial Revolution in the 1850s. Laithitaus was the second largest city in the kingdom after Melmingen and was known as a summer vacation spot. The Heraldstein Dynasty even had a summer residence in Laithitaus. In 1868 there was a big fire in Laithitaus which killed 46 people.
