The Monarchy of Atmora, commonly referred to as the Atmoran monarchy, is the constitutional monarchy of the Atmoran Confederation. its protectorates, colonies and Dominions. The monarch's title is "High King/Hoge Koning" (male) or "High Queen/Hoge Koningin" (female). The current monarch and head of state, High Queen Katherine II, ascended the throne upon the abdication of her father, George V, on 14 January 2062.
The monarch and his or her immediate family undertake various official, ceremonial, diplomatic and representational duties. As the monarchy is constitutional, the monarch is limited to non-partisan functions such as bestowing honours and appointing the Prime Minister. The monarch is, by tradition, commander-in-chief of the Atmoran Armed Forces. Though the ultimate formal executive authority over the government of Atmora is still by and through the monarch's royal prerogative, these powers may only be used according to laws enacted in Parliament and, in practice, within the constraints of convention and precedent.
Atmora is one of the oldest continuing monarchies in the world. Initially established in the 17th century, as the Kings of Lieseltania, whose institution is sometimes colloquially referred to as the Wolf Crown.
