Gallia (Dutch: Gallië), offically the Kingdom of Gallia (Dutch: Koninkrijk Gallië; Dutch Low Saxon: Köninkriek Gallien) is a federal state of Atmora occupying its northwestern corner. Gallia is the 6th largest state in terms of population and area among the 18 states of the Atmoran Confederation.
Gallia was formed through the Principality of Gallia and Randriz during the 15th century during the Gallian Wars when Princess Laeventia II of Randgriz united the Principality of Randrgiz with the Princely-County of Gallia and conquered the Counties of Saaksum, West-Larsenburg, and Angeren. Laeventia II was the first in Atmoran history to attempt to unite the Atmoran people, as the Gallian Army quickly conquered the Hespirese imperial lands of Brunswick, Larsenburg, Alcrentia, and pushed as far into the Karthlands and the southern Huldenberg reaching it's greatest extent from 1396 to 1467.
History
Prehistory
Gaulic Wars
Following the unification of the Gaulic tribes by the Principality of Randgriz under Prince Grifud ap Aneirin by 1327, the Gaulic province was on the fringes of the imperial frontier. Emperor Aimeric I of Hesperia attempted to conquer Gaul and turn into a tributary province of the Halkeginian Empire by the mid 1300s, however the Prince of Randgriz now styled as the King of the Gauls refused to swear to allegiance to the Hesperian Empire and convert to christianity. King Grifud would routinely do cross border raids into the Transdiebalia Gaul and the Westerlands provinces. It wouldn't be until Laeventia the Great in 1409 invade into Transdiebalia conquering huge swaths of Western Atmora. Laeventia would push as far as the Karth, till Emperor Richard III would begin pushing back against the Gaulic invasions into eastern Atmora. Visenna of Wolf, commanded the Hesperian armies against Laeventia managing to push out the Gauls in 1413 and beginnging their long grueling campaign into the Westerlands for another two decades of fighting......
Laeventia and Visenna would finally end the war at the Battle of Pevelenberg on 16 December 1437, in which Visenna would slay Laeventia in the field with the Imperial forces suffering 30,000 casualties and the Gauls nearly 65,000 causalities. With the death of Laeventia by Princess Visenna, the Hesperians would exert total control over Gaul resulting in the Gaulic inquisition by the Catholic church. Additionally Visenna would be made viceroy over parts of the conquered territory and would begin the Atmoranification of the Gauls away from the Gaulic paganism and culture.
