The South Ashizwe Border War (Afrikaans: Die Patriotiese Oorlog, Patriotic War) was a conflict fought between Westonaria and the People's Socialist Republic of Goredemabwa between 1986 till 1993. The war's origins can be found in the Myrdesia War, in which the Westonarian Defence Force was deployed to assist in the defence of the Mydresian white minority government against the communist guerillas of the Socialist Worker's Party. Following the defeat of the Mydresian government, the WDF was deployed into Mydresia in order to destroy the fledging communist state and secure the safety of the country's white minority. Over the next seven years, the WDF would face off against both Goredemabwan guerillas and regular forces, over the years the objective of liberating Mydresia would be removed and the evacuation of the white minority became the priority.
