The Bak Defense Force (Bakyernian: Laakyar Ördsafarigen) are the armed forces of Bakyern, with a duty of protecting Bakyern's territories and carrying out its wider interests. They encompass of the army, air force, and navy, with the coast guard and border patrol being incorporated during time of wartime. The defense force also carries out efforts in foreign territories such as peacekeeping and providing humanitarian aid. While national defense is put on the hands of the Ördsafarigen, states have their own militaries, called Territorial Defense Force officially. They are different from the reserves of the defense force and don't follow the same command structure.
The commander-in-chief of the defense force is the President of Bakyern which is currently Rikart Kalmer. The Bak Defense Force is overseen by the Department of National Defense, with the current head of the defense force below the Secretary being the Chief of Staff.
Role
The current role of the defense force mainly revolves around defense, however, the Ördsafarigen has had a history of participating or deploying in conflict zones, with since 1984, deployments on behalf of the Initiative for Global Peace. Functions of the defense force include:
- Preparing defense of Bakyern from threats
- Assisting the National Police Authority if needed as well as maintaining internal security
- Carrying out Bakyern's wider goals and interests through conflicts and deployment
- Humanitarian Aid and Peacekeeping
