Malin Lisbeth Rasmussen is an Acrean politican serving as the Chancellor of Acrea since 2019. A member of the national conservative Vastrapartiet, she is Acrea's third female Chancellor. She is often considered a protégé of her predecessor, Hans-Christian Sørensen, and has continued many of the policies first established during his incumbency.

Personal Life

Rasmussen was born in Sävsjö in the province of Aarberg, Daneland, the daughter of a cardiac surgeon and a schoolteacher. She received her abitur in 1999 and entered the University of Stavanger the same year.

Political Career

Whilst in University, Rasmussen joined the youth wing of the centre-right Akrienske Volkespartiet, and rapidly because seen as a rising star in the party. She left the University after acquiring her BSc and MA in 2004, the same year she began a campaign to serve as an MP for her home district in Sävsjö with the support of AVP. She won the election and entered the Reichstag as an MP in 2005, and would go on to distinguish herself by serving as a key member on several parliamentary committees including the Defence Committee and Foreign Affairs Committee. Following a cabinet reshuffle in 2014, Rasmussen was appointed by Sørensen to serve as Minister of Foreign Affairs, a position she would go on to hold until becoming Chancellor in 2019.

Political Positions

In domestic politics, Rasmussen has become known for championing and advancing a progressive conservative agenda, and helped lead the division of the Vastrapartiet from the AVP in 2014. She has been a strong advocate for continuing many policies begun under Sørensen, such as the Energiefrom program focused on the further development of renewable energy technologies, reduction of emissions through investment in electric vehicles and public transport, and a goal of achieving at least 90% renewable energy usage. She has also been active in healthcare reform, and has maintained high levels of defence spending.

In foreign policy, Rasmussen has likewise continued the policies of her predecessor including aims towards reconciling relations with Syara, increasing regional maritime security with Ossoria, and reinforcing Acrea's strong partnerships with Shalum and Ruvelka. She has continued her predecessors' hardline stance towards Aethurheim.
