Government and infrastructure

Local government

Oakvale Central Fire Station

The Oakvale CDP is coterminous with the Oakvale Municipal Utility District. Created by the state legislature in 1951 to provide water and sewer services to the area, the MUD has grown to also provide local street maintenance, parks, and fire and EMS coverage to the CDP.

The Oakvale Fire Department covers the area from two stations in the community, and has a fire marshal and two deputy marshals that see to fire prevention in the community, as well as being the MUDs only law enforcement officers.

County, state, and federal representation

The Cameron County Hospital District operates the Oakvale Health Center at 4755 SH 161 in Oakvale.

The Oakvale CDP is served by Cameron County Sheriff's Office for general law enforcement services.

The Ibican Postal Administration operates the Oakvale Post Office at 105 W SH 225.

Primary and secondary schools

Public schools

Youngstown Independent School District serves the CDP and much of the surrounding community. Within the community YISD operates two elementary schools, a middle school, and Oakvale High School.

Community colleges

Nearby Young Community College Serves Oakvale, along with the rest of Cameron County.
