Youngstown is a city in and county seat of Cameron County, West Monroe, Ibica. As of 2020, the city has a population of 149,504 according to the 2020 census, and is one of the three principal cities in the Abilene-Toledo-Youngstown metropolitan area. The city is located at the junction of Interstate 25, Interstate 30, and West Monroe State Highway 130

The primary economic drivers are the extensive medical community and goods distribution based on its central location between the Rhone, Willmington, and Albany, Petra metropolitan areas.

Education

Primary and secondary schools

Youngstown and neighboring Oakvale are served by the Youngstown Independent School District. The district has three high schools, five middle schools, and eleven elementary schools.

Colleges and universities

Youngstown is home to the Univeristy of West Monroe at Youngstown, as well as Young Community College. Nearby Abilene is also home to Abilene State University.

Transportation

The Central State Transit Authority (CSTA) operates local and regional bus routes serving Youngstown, as well as connecting to Toledo and Abilene, as well smaller surrounding communities. Service to Abilene also provide connections to Abilene Central Station and RailIbica services.

Temple has general aviation and limited commercial services via Youngstown Regional Airport.

West Monroe State Soil and Water Conservation Service

The West Monroe State Soil and Water Conservation Service has its headquarters in Youngstown.

Law enforcement

Youngstown is policed by the Youngstown Police Department and the Cameron County Sheriff's Office. The West Monroe Department of Corrections operates a regional office in the city. The West Monroe Highway Patrol maintains an office on I-30 in southwest Youngstown. The Ibican Forest Service has a Ranger Station off of Loop 25 in the northwestern part of the city that serves Weaver National Forest, which borders the city to the northwest.
