The Democratic Party (Gaullican: Parti Démocrate; Papotement: Pati Demokratik) is a liberal and conservative political party in Carucere. Founded in 1936 as a party for reformist whites and creoles, today the party supports moderate and economically liberal policies. The party's ideology has been referred to as classical liberal, social liberal, conservative-liberal, and liberal conservative. The party's main policies revolve around the economy, such as supporting greater economic integration with the rest of the Arucian Cooperation Organization and the wider region. Although it officially does not support any particular ethnic group, the Creole and White communities continues to be its largest voter base.
The National Party was founded in 1936 after the Great War to represent the white and creole middle to upper classes in the Arucian_Federation#District_of_Saint-Brendan. The party dominated the country's politics during the Arucian Federation, United Provinces and the first decade of an independent Carucere. The party fell out of power during the Sugar Crash and would not return to power until the 1990s during the terms of President Leyland and Premier Ferey of the Democrats . In 2016, the party's congress elected David Jonas to be the party's first Bahian Carucerean leader, and promoted the party beyond its original base. Today the National Party is the largest opposition party and has been in the governing coalition once between 2014 to 2018.
