Alessio Abano (born November 28th, 1957) is a member of the Chamber of Representatives who served as Chair of the Malgravean Socialist Party between 2004 and 2015.

Early life and career

Alessio Abano was born in Rensk on the 28th of November 1957, a part of the then Socialist Republic of Malgrave. Alessio was an active member of the Monika Chmiel Pioneers and Free Socialist Youth rising to leadership positions in both organisations due to his role in creating outreach with international organisations in Breheim and other Mystrian countries.

After completing his mandatory education, Alessio started studying industrial engineering at the Rensk University of Technology which was coupled with a year of study abroad in Breheim. At this time Alessio had been a member of the Communist Party of Malgrave for over a decade, and was elected to the House of the People in the 1981 Malgravean General Election which was the last election to be held in the country before its dissolution following the signing of the Epping-Rensk Agreement.

Chair of the Socialist Party

After the collapse of the Socialist Republic, Alessio joined the Socialist Party (Malgrave) and shortly thereafter became one of the few elected socialists representatives in the country following the 1985 Malgravean General Election. Within the party Alessio became known for his passion and efforts in fighting for all parts of Malgrave, a factor which distinguished him from other former SRM-era officials who were known for being hyper focused on territory of the former republic.

In the Lost Decade Alessio took part in campaigns to try and reduce political violence in the country, and worked with the Ancestral Study Group on anti-poverty efforts. Following the resignation of Damian Jaskulski Alessio was elected and became Chair of the Socialist Party in 1999.

Alessio's leadership was marred by suspected tampering on public opinion by the Special Investigative Service, however, his leadership is often viewed as successful as from the 2000 Malgravean General Election to the 2014 Malgravean General Election he was able to increase the popularity of the party and lay the foundation for its success in the 2019 Malgravean General Election.

During this time as Chair, Alessio greatly promoted the expansion of relations between Malgrave and Breheim and for greater worker involvement in the say of companies like MalMart and MalTec, with the overall aim of turning them into workers self-managed enterprises.

In 2015 Alessio resigned and was replaced with Lotte Hansen.

Alessio is married and has two children and five grandchildren, with the latter being a contribution to his decision to resign from leadership of the socialist party.
