The Socialist Party of Austeria, commonly known as just the PSA, is a leftist political party in Austeria that aims to unite the "patriotic Austerian left". It is the de facto successor to the Austerian Liberation Front, the founding political party of the Austerian People's Republic.
The Socialist Party was founded in 2005, shortly after the Olive Revolution, by former members of the Austerian Liberation Front who opposed ethnic and sectarian politics and the collapse of the socialist system. It emerged as the first major nonsectarian and nonethnic party of the Third Republic and became the leading party after the 2009 election. The Socialist-led govenrment renewed its diplomatic ties with Valduvia and increased economic cooperation between the two countries. The Socialist lost their leading role in the following election, but it remains a major force in Austerian politics. Like its predecessor, the Socialist Party has significant links to the security establishment and the party is widely considered the main method by which the Austerian deep state influences politics.
The party describes itself as a democratic socialist and left-wing nationalist party as well as a "supra-ethnic" party. It is widely described as left-wing, populist, and left-right-populist for its espousal of Austerian nationalism. The party strongly opposes ethnic and religious politics and seeks to mend these divides in Austeria and restablish an Austerian national identity. The party supports closer relations with Valduvia and the Association for International Socialism and opposes integration with the Euclean Community.
