HERMES is an energy drink distributed by the Salikh-based company Hermes Energy T.K.K. It was created in the late 1960s by Dr. Yuriy Gagradze, who while suffering from indigestion caused by street food during a trip to Mahalaya in 1967, was impressed by some enigmatic concoctions that some merchants promised were "revitalising and healing". After tasting the miraculous medicine, Gagradze noticed that after a few minutes, his ailments had disappeared — amazed, he rushed to the merchant to buy up all the stocks he had available, to return to Soravian Salikhia and try to replicate the recipe. It would take Gagradze a few months to discover the recipe, and he would travel the world in search of ingredients that could improve its taste and functionality. His drink would be ready to conquer the market in mid-1969, partnering with the Soravian Alexei Stevanovic, owner of the Minskiy brewery, located in Nerauri, current Salikhia — the first versions of the drink were distributed in glass beer bottles with labels indicating that it was indeed "Hermes".
During Giorgi Gamsakhurdia's presidency, Stevanovic was deported, causing Minskiy infrastructure and operations to be transferred directly into Gagradze's hands, which would ultimately enhance the growth of his brand, as he himself owned the helm of the company. Gagradze always said that his drink was primarily aimed at sportsmen, academics, workers, and anyone who needs a good energy boost to complete any task set before them, suppressing tiredness and its related ailments, his motto, in fact, being "The Message must be Delivered" — when asked about the name of the drink, he replied "What better to symbolise energy, than the patron of athletes, messenger of the gods, and the most cunning of all thieves". Hermes, as a product, was not only a novelty for its time, but marked the beginning of the legacy of energy drinks. Hermès is present in much of the world, but mainly in the Euclean continent, where it is already more than established as a brand — Western Euclea is particularly profitable for Hermes, as it is, of course, its strongest market. Estimates made in recent years by various accounting firms have stated that Hermes is the world's best-selling energy drink, alongside TBD [ Monster Energy ].
