Radictistan Automotive Works is a Radictistani automotive corporation headquartered in the Municipality of Hartfer, County of Norcustsur with manufacturing plants all over the immediate region. It is the largest private employer in Radictistan with over two hundred and eighty thousand employees. It is by far the largest automotive concern by deliveries and profit. The Commercial Vehicles division produces over three and a half million vehicles annually.
The company benefits from its close association with the ruling Radicti family; a majority of outstanding shares are owned by royal family members including the Grand Duke Xenocimedes Radicti himself. RAW receives preferential regulatory treatment, has lucrative government business steered its way, and benefits from a high level of protection from foreign competition. Recently the company has been subjected to a number of armed attacks by the Communist Party of Radictistan because of its close ties to the incumbent regime. These include the bombing of a company aircraft which resulted in the deaths of several key executives.
Corporate governance
The company's headquarters are located within the Radictistan Automotive Works Tower in Hartfer. Radictistan Automotive Works has a unitary board of directors. Among its members are Howard Radicti, Count of Norcust, the second son of the Grand Duke and Randolph Murk, Count of Eastval. Because these men hold high-ranking positions within the Radictistani government it is rare to have a meeting in which all board members attend. The Chief Executive Officer is Sir August Havenketter. The loss of a company aircraft to terrorism left a hole in the company's senior management echelon which analysts feared would leave the organization without effective leadership.
Operations
Divisions
Radictistan Automotive Works has two main operating divisions. Radictistan Automotive Works Commercial Vehicles employs 223,000 people and manufactures civil vehicles ranging from compact cars to light commercial vehicles to construction equipment. Radictistan Automotive Works Defense Systems employs 58,000 persons and is one the premier Radictistani defense contractors producing a variety of wheeled military vehicles including the BTR-90, the Royal Radictistan Army's main infantry fighting vehicle.
Production facilities
Radictistan Automotive Works has eight main production facilities in Norcustsur and Yestingsur.
Hartfer
Radictistan Automotive Works Commercial Vehicles has its main assembly plant in Hartfer. The complex produces mass-market cars including the popular RAW 17x and RAW 18x series. The assembly plant is connected to RAW's second Hartfer facility, an engine and transmission plant, by an 8.1 km cargo tramway. A second assembly plant produces RAW's lineup of luxury vehicles.
Redclay
The Redclay assembly plant produces vehicles of the 4xx and 5xx series such as pickup trucks, vans, and sport utility vehicles.
Marianberg
The Marianberg Stamping Plant produces stamped and welded sub-assemblies for RAW's assembly plants in Hartfer and Redclay.
Crystal City
Crystal City, Yestingsur contains the Crystal City Arsenal, the main production facility of Radictistan Automotive Works Defense Systems. The facility assembles armored fighting vehicles such as the BTR-90 and Dingo 2 for the Radictistani military.
Luerkraft
RAW's Luerkraft plant makes construction and logging equipment such as large trucks, dump trucks, and forwarders. The Luerkraft facility produces most large sub-assemblies on-site in contrast to the Hartfer and Redclay assembly plants.
Jagernopol
The Jagernopol plant assembles buses and tractor-trailer prime movers from components produced on site.
Products
Radictistan Automotive Works vehicle models are designated using a three-integer code. The first integer indicates the general category of the vehicle, with models in the 1XX range being mass market cars, those in the 2XX range being luxury cars, those in the 3XX range being construction equipment, and so on. The first two integers together indicate the base model of the vehicle. The third integer denotes whether the vehicle is of a subvariant of a base model. For instance, the RAW 182 is a variant of the RAW 180, differing only in the exclusion of many features to allow it to sell for a significantly lower price. The three-integer system extends to cases where two seemingly different vehicles share the same chassis, such as with many pickup trucks and sport utility vehicles.
