The nobility in Sharifistan is the highest social class. The highest-ranking noble is the Sultan of Sharifistan but the class also includes: Emirs, Pashas, Princes (Shahzade and Mirza), Qadis (judges), Mayors, members of the Shura Al-Sharifs (upper house of parliament), Nişan De Onur recipients, members of the Sultan's cabinet, Sayyids, Islamic scholars, Royal Physicians and university chancellors as well as military officers, Effendis, Beys, Beyzades, lawyers, medical doctors, the Palace Butler, the Palace Chef, Seneschals, royal guards of various types, Bishops, senior Rabbis, chaplains in the Armed forces, Police and Fire Service, Royal Guards, Police officers (Inspector and above), firefighters (Watch Manager and above) and imams.
Privileges
Noblewomen are the only people allowed to wear gold jewellery. Meanwhile (other than silversmiths) noblemen are the only men entitled entitled to wear any silver other than on a wedding ring (any citizen may have a silver wedding ring but only noblemen and silversmiths may wear any other silver accessories).
Responsibilities
Nobles are set to a high standard of conduct. They can lose their titles for various things, even for acts which would not be against the law of Sharifistan for commoners.
Marriage
According to the Kanun Sivil are various groups Sharifistani nobles may be prohibited for marrying. Sharifistani noblemen may not marry:
1. Convicted serious child abusers
2. Convicted rapists and the sons of convicted rapists
3. Unrepentant torturers and their offspring
4. Pimps, madams or the offspring of pimps or madams
5.Convicted traitors (unless pardoned) and the offspring of convicted traitors (unless pardoned)
6. pornographers and the daughters of pornographers
7. dayooths and the offspring of dayooths.
8. adulteresses and their daughters
9. men convicted of cowardice
10. "abortionists and their daughters"
11. "sex-selective abortionists and their sons"
12. people who sell alcohol for a living
Sharifistani noblewomen may not marry:
Traditions
The Sharifistani nobility have many cultural expectations on them including:
Exemplary military service and protectiveness of women (for men).
Virginity before marriage and monogamy when married (for women).
Piety, generosity, intense academic study in religion (usually with a special attention given to Islam) and philosophy, physical exercise and learning the art of self-defence (for both genders).
Involvement in politics (traditionally for men but now for both genders)
