While national defense is put on the hands of the Tuiivamast, cantons have their own militaries, called Territorial Defense Force officially and called the Cantonal Guard unofficially. They are different from the reserves of the defense force and don't follow the same command structure.
The commander-in-chief of the defense force is the President of Bakyern which is currently Kal Strassman. The Bak Defense Force is overseen by the Department of Defense, with the current head of the defense force below the Secretary being the Chief of Staff.
