The Cabinet of Belmonte (Luzelese: Gabinete Ministerial de Belmonte), officially the Council of Ministers of the United Republic of Belmonte (Luzelese: Conselho de Ministros da República Unida de Belmonte), is the collegial decision-making body of the Belmontese Government, being presided by the premier who draws its members from the National Congress. The cabinet forms, alongside the offices of premier and president, the executive branch of the Belmontese Government.

Functions

According to the Constitution, the Cabinet is the official executive collective decision-making body of Belmonte under a primus inter pares system, however, ever since the late-20th century, the officer of premier has total preeminence over the cabinet, having total control of his or her ministers and agenda.

Shadow cabinet

Although not being an official institution, it's a political convention that the biggest opposition party establish a shadow cabinet formed by party spokespersons that cover certain government areas, with the first party to do so being the URN during its wilderness years. Over time, third parties also started to form their cabinets, becoming a common practice since then.
