The Spálgleann Metro (Caldish: Meitreo Spálgleann ) is a rapid transit system in Spálgleann, Caldia. It is the world's northernmost metro system. The Spálgleann Metro's first line opened in 1943. Today, the system has five lines, including one light rail line. There are 83 stations. The system has also been given the nickname of the "never-ending art gallery" as over 60 of its stations are decorated with art installations from more than 100 international artists.
Initially, the metro system was operated by the publicly-owned Spálgleann City Transit. Operations were transferred to the national CIG in 2001. Starting in 2012, operations were handled by [country]-based [Company]. They were returned to CIG in 2020, which had since been placed back under state-ownership. As of 2018, it had a weekday daily ridership of 975,000 and an annual ridership of 321 million.
The Spálgleann Metro is Caldia's only underground rapid transit system. It's five lines almost exclusively provide service within Spálgleann's borders, with some connections to neighboring cities in County Aercach offered by the the M1 and M3-A lines.
