The United Etrurian Navy (Rodarian: Unita Marina Etruriana) is the naval branch of the United Etrurian Armed Forces, the national armed forces of the Transetrurian Federation. The UEN can trace its lineage to its founding in 1624. Throughout the 1950s and early 1960s the UEN was inferior to the navies of other powers in terms of equipment and technology. Until the late 1980s, the UEN was largely a riverine and littoral force (brown-water navy). However by the 1980s, the country's economic development allowed naval commanders to turn its sights from coastal defence towards the open seas. By the late 1990s it had become a green water navy, by the 2000s it had become a blue water navy.

In 2008, Admiral Marco Infascelli declared that the "United Navy had finally achieved its objective, in becoming a fully functioning and capable blue water navy, an offensive force capable of any operation it saw necessary".

Branches

Submarine Force

The Submarine Force is one of five branches in the navy and consists of all submarines both nuclear-powered and conventionally-powered in service with the UEN. They are organised into flotillas spread across the X main fleets. The UEN intends to expand its submarine fleet from 20 boats to 35 by 2030.

Naval Surface Force

The Naval Surface Force is one of five branches in the navy and consists of all surface warfare ships in service with the UEN. They are organised into flotillas spread across the xx main fleets.

United Naval Air Force

The United Naval Air Force is one of the six branches that is dedicated to both seaborne operations and coastal defence operations. In wartime, the UNAF is capable of appropriating aircraft from the United Etrurian Air Force when the circumstance requires. The UNAF operates close to 250 aircraft, including fighters, interceptors and strike aircraft, the UNAF operates out of Naval Air Bases along the coastline of the mainland as well as a major base on Aeolia. The UNAF's helicopters are usually used in peacetime for search and rescue off the coast.

Coastal Defence Force

The Coastal Defence Force is a land-based fighting force and branch of the UEN which is also jointly operated with the United Etrurian Army. Also known as the coastal defense troops, they serve to defend Etruria's coastal areas from invasion via amphibious landings or air-attack. In 1998, the CDF was granted complete control over the Etrurian Navy's minelaying vessels and it was also granted authority over the Etrurian Coast Guard during wartime.

Today the primary weapons of the coastal defense troops are the T-330, T-890 and T-900 anti-ship missiles. The CDF also utilises numerous artillery pieces for secondary defensive usage.

San Marco Corps

see:San Marco Corps

The San Marco Corps was originally established in the 1950s as an independent force and then transferred in 1979 to be under the UEN's authority. It consists of around 10,000 marines organised into four 2,500-man brigades and is based on Aeolia. The SMC are considered elite troops, and are rapid mobilization forces trained primarily in amphibious warfare and as paratroopers to establish a beachhead or act as a fighting spearhead during operations against enemy targets. The marines are equipped with the standard Favaro T97 assault rifle as well as other small arms and personnel equipment, and a blue/littoral camouflage uniform as standard. The marines are also equipped with armoured fighting vehicles (including amphibious light tanks such as the Type 63), artillery, and anti-aircraft artillery systems and short range surface-to-air missiles.
