The Inyurstan Army, also called the "ANRI" or "L'Armiéa National D'Inyursta", is a branch of the Inyurstan military specializing in ground combat operations and expeditionary incrusions. It has approximately 910,000 active personnel and about two-thirds of that in reserve, larger than both the Inyurstan Air Force and Inyurstan Navy. The Inyurstan National Guard is considered a sub-division of the Inyurstan Army.

History

The Inyurstan Army was made an official branch of the Inyurstan military in 1969 following the victory of counter-revolutionary forces in the Inyurstan Civil War. Since then the ANRI has participated in many conflicts involving the Inyurstan military, including the 1986 Guerroca War, Lolloh-Ruolnik Conflict, DEN Invasion of Colombia, Greco-Bulgarian War and Tronesia Campaign.

Mission

The official mission statement of the ARNI is:

  • To protect and serve La Républiqua D'Inyursta and the democratic ideals it represents through direct, unwavering and fearless combat actions against foreign threats to the Inyurstan Republic and its allies.

Personnel

Duty Communities

Above all else, the primary job of the Inyurstan Army is the infantry. Armored brigades (brigades d'armors), composite brigades (brigades des composités), mechanized brigades (brigades des mechanizations) and light infantry brigades (brigades d'infanteréa légeras) are considered part of the infantry duty community. Armored units are units which field main battle tanks, currently the M1A2 Alligator MBT; and historically used tanks such as the T-54/T-55 and M60. Of some 62 brigades in the Inyurstan Army, 45 are infantry brigades.

The Inyurstan Army has its own organic aviation community. Helicopters, drones and light support aircraft are all included in the organic aviation structure of the army. Personnel must be either warrant officers or commissioned officers (usually the former) in order to fly helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft; however, personnel as low as corporals may operate various UAV/UCAV's.

Special Forces

The RIAF has four units considered "special forces" (which technically fall under the command of JSSOC); M/A-TAG, Neige Luno, 1st Battalione de Ranger, and GDA2 (Groupe D'Assault Alpha).

M/A-TAG; Mobile Target Acquisition Group and Airborne Target Acquisition Group, is a specialized group of teams who focus on the acquisition of High-Value Targets (HvTs) from enemy territory, be they enemy officials and commanders or hostages from Inyursta and its allies. A-TAG was deployed to Lebanon to rescue trapped medical student Christina LaRamas from Ardokian and Islamo-Communist forces.

The Neige Luno, or "Black Moon" in English, are a task force of soldiers highly trained in clandestine operation, search evasion and training. Their mission is to act as a force-multiplier, and sneak into hostile countries to train local insurgents. Neige Luno commandos were the first units into Elescu during the Inyurstan Intervention in the Lolloh-Ruolnik War, and rallied ethnic Ruol farmers and rural peasantry to their cause, arming them and providing them with impromptu combat training.

Ranks

The Inyurstan Army follows a similar ranking structure to all other branches of the Inyurstan military, including enlisted ranks from E-1 through E-9, commissioned officer ranks from O-1 to O-9, and four warrant officer ranks. RIAF personnel have the highest ratio of officers to enlisted personnel. Battlefield commissions are unheard of in the RIAF due to the nature of their operations, but warrant officer school is available to capable and distinguished enlisted personnel to qualify them for flight status.
