She attended the Koninklijk Instituut voor de Marine from 1999 to 2003, graduating at the top of her class and with distinction she was commissioned with the rank of Sub-lieutenant within the Royal Atmoran Naval Air Service as a J-54 Wildekat pilot, until becoming a J/A-29 Merlet pilot.
