Aspatria - Referred to as City of Aspatria to distinguish it from Aspatria City and Greater Aspatria - is the most populous urban area in Arkiasis and the centre of the Metro Aspatria Area, the premier gateway for legal immigration to Arkiasis. Aspatria is ranked as a "Alpha City" on the global world cities index,[1] and exerts a significant impact upon commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment.
The City of Aspatria consists of Aspatria City - an autonomous city separate from the Province of Greater Aspatria - and the 9 boroughs - Normandy, Hook, Broxhead, Century, Reading, Ellington, Lambeth, Aldgate and Corinth. The 9 boroughs and Aspatria City were consolidated into one city in 1876, however after a Referendum in 2014, Aspatria City voted to separate itself from the Province of Greater Aspatria and become an autonomous city. With a census population of 8,049,327 in 2010 distributed over a land area of 1,412km2, Aspatria is the most densely populated urban area in Arkiasis. By 2010 census estimates, the Aspatria Region remains by a significant margin the most populous in Arkiasis, as defined by both the Metro Aspatria Area (9.1 million residents) and the Aspatria-Aberdeen Combined Statistical Area (15.1 million residents). In 2013 the Metro Aspatria Area produced a gross metropolitan product(GMP) of nearly NS$600 billion, 17.3% of the entire GDP of Arkiasis.
