Fomiy (pronounced /ˈðom.jʏ/, locally /ˈðoːm.i/) is a large city and municipality in eastern Vyvland. Central Fomiy lies on the River Fomiy, two kilometres inland from the Fomiy Gulf. The city is sheltered on a river estuary behind a small headland, which enables it to have a significant shipping and naval presence; Fomiy is one of the main bases for the Vyvlander Navy. It is the capital of the province of Brudon, a sparsely-populated province which extends westwards from the city onto plains and eastwards into mountains.
Fomiy suffered from significant problems following the de-escalation of shipping after the partition of Vyvland; the city found itself in South Vyvland, while Vlud, the main destination for products imported through the port, was isolated in North Vyvland. However, trade picked up following reunification in 1983, and thesedays the port is well-used. In recent years, Fomiy has tried to invent itself as a cultural hub for eastern Vyvland, spearheaded by the construction of the Mafjas Langmaan-designed Fomiy Bibliotek by the city's waterfront in 1987.
