Travellers is a Malgravean science fiction television show. It follows the adventures of a deeply classified unit within the Malgravean intelligence service that is tasked with journeying back in time to correct mistakes in the timeline and ensure the steady flow of history.
It is noted as the first major television role for Janina Pasternack following on from her success in Unity?.
History
Travellers was commissioned by the Malgravean Broadcasting Corporation following a short survey in 2019 which indicated a desire for more sci-fi shows to be aired on the network, with Solar Solipsis submitting the winning pitch. Initial production was scheduled for 2020 with filming being done in Luban, however, security issues in the region caused all productions to be terminated and the project was halted for several months while alternate venues were held.
A solution was eventually found when the New Dornalian Broadcasting Corporation offered to assist MBC in the production of several shows that were set to be cancelled due to security reasons, with social media campaigns run alongside the shows airing to try and raise money for various relief efforts. Such an offer was accepted by the MBC and the production of Travellers was shifted to Daegu, a city located on Dornalian Earth.
Travellers is known for having a few cameo appearances and actors performing as younger versions of historical figures, with the most notable being Nadzieja Brzezicki who appeared briefly as herself in the aftermath of an episode which had a Traveller team journeying to Pakosc during the Lost Decade which also included a younger version of played by a child actor.
Synopsis
Travellers is set in a fictional classified unit within the Internal Security Division which reports directly to the Director General. Travellers are dispatched to fix noted divergences in the standard timeline which can be caused by random happenstance or external influence, and an important part of the Travellers' work is ensuring that even terrible moments of history such as Operation Swift go ahead as written.
Travellers follows the adventures of a newly established team as they encounter the difficulties associated with journeying to varying parts of Malgravean history and come to terms with both present social issues and their own selves.
