Aleksandra Dubanowski (born 21st August 1986) is a Malgravean singer-songwriter. Following the release of her first album Aleksandra has gained sharp popularity due to her unique style, and is commonly regared as one of the most popular performers in the country, especially, in polls taken around Pakosc which has embraced her as the cities idol. In politics she is an outspoken critic of censorship laws and has also criticised conscription laws in the country.

Early life

Aleksandra was born in the city of Pakosc to Anna and Philip Dubanowski. Growing up during the height of the Lost Decade Aleksandra's parents were fearful that they wouldn't be able to afford the needed lessons to fill her growing curiosity in the musical arts, however, due to work being done by the Ancestral Study Group to provide musical education to kids Aleksandra was able to attend lessons on dance, music theory and classical music.

Both through the Gabriel Narutowicz Pioneers and later Free Democratic Youth (Malgrave) Aleksandra was also able to further her pursuit of classical music, as both organisations had long embraced musical lessons which were seen as a better option compared to more physical activities due to MIDD.

In 2004 Aleksandra attended the Ascension Musical Academy finishing her studies as a Bachelor of Orchestral Instruments

Musical career

Whilst at Ascension Musical Academy she began to openly mingle with a variety of artists and soon gained enough confident to start performing at small venues and restaurants in Ascension, occasionally working alongside fellow students Vitale Lamberti and Giuseppe Fermi. After completing her studies she continued to perform utilising her previous connections and experience to play at increasingly larger venues whilst she began to write original pieces for a future album.

In 2009 Aleksandra released Ancestral Spirit an album that cemented Aleksandra's eccentric mixture of classical and electronic music performed with her trusty violin. 2012 marked the release of her second album Cultural Revolution an album that included tracks from artists that had suffered from censored musical performances.

Following her most recent tour in 2015 Aleksandra publicised Dubanowski Live: A tour of hope an album and film that centred around her musical adventures and humanitarian efforts across Mystria

Style

Aleksandra is known for combining classical genres of music with more upbeat electronic and hip hop influences.

International Reception

Aleksandra Dubanowski's first album, Ancestral Spirit', had decent but modest sales in Rohane Alista, reaching 29th on the top 40 albums list. However, her single Eternal Shadows peaked at number seven on the Hot 40 Singles list, according to McNurney Tracking. A strong response to her touring efforts in Rohane, especially in the cities of Berabil and Calihain, saw her next album, Cultural Revolution, release to an eager reception. The more upbeat and political Cultural Revolution, protesting censorship, swiftly rose to the top of the charts, and spent seventeen weeks as the number one album in Rohane Alista. During this time the singles from the album, Cultural Revolution, Paradise Lost, and Censored Voices battled for the top spot on the Hot 40 Singles list. Dubanowski Live has been slowly gaining traction in Rohane since it's release.

Since her second album was released Aleksandra's popularity has increased rapidly in Kouralia, with her first album retroactively making it into the top 50 list for a short while due to increased interest in her earlier works. The increased recognition of Aleksandra's work in Kouralia is due to a number reasons, but originally can be linked to promotion by a number of prominent Kouralian celebrities on social media which first truly drew public attention toward her music, such as Elena Campbell who has described the Malgravean artist as an inspiration in a radio interview.
