In 1986, 16-year-old Oliver Reißmann live with his older brother Jürgen and his single mother Eva in the fictional ultraconservative village of Frida-Ochsenbein-Stadt, a small village named in 1929 after [[Frida Ochsenbein]], the daughter of the former [[Besmenian Empire|West Besmenian]] dictator [[Karl Ochsenbein]], and whose renaming to the original village name failed in 1967. The small town is also right next to the then closed and guarded Besmenia-Palingia border.
Oliver and his friends enjoy music records, cassette tapes, and other pop culture yet have little luck with the local girls. While listening to the newest tape, Oliver tspies the beautiful Sabrina coming out of her apartment building and we find he is madly in love with her.

Plot
