The AN-47 is an advanced trainer aircraft with combat capability, produced in the Blackhelm Confederacy by Angelbridge Avionics.
Design and development
Preliminary design studies for a training aircraft for the Imperial Exponential Air Force started at Angelbridge in 1976, with these studies resulting in selection of a proposal powered by a single turbofan with high, unswept wings.
The AN-47 is single-engined and has straight supercritical wings rather than the swept ones of the Alpha Jet and other similar aircraft. It is constructed mainly of aluminium alloy, with carbon-fiber used for components such as the air intakes. The crew of two sit in tandem under a single-piece canopy. The avionics systems are also designed to be simple, and the plane has an important secondary combat role. The AN-47prototype first flew on June 9, 1979.
