Saint Florian's County is an Imaguan county situated in the western part of the island of Imagua. It is bordered to the northeast by Saint Isidore's County, to the east by Saint Ellen's County, and to the southeast by the city of Cuanstad.
Etymology
The county was named after Saint Florian, the patron saint of brewers, as at the time the county was established, it was home to most of the island's alcohol production (predominantly rum).
Government
Saint Florian's, like any other county (except for the city of Cuanstad, and the Assimas County) is run by the county council (Vespasian: consiglio di contea), comprising of twenty-seven seats. The county council is led by a Sheriff (Sceriffo or Sceriffa), currently Tilly Janson of the 12-seat Sotirian Labour Party, who governs in a coalition with the 2-seat Farmer's Party. Other political parties represented include the 12-seat Democratic Labour Party, and one Movement for a New Imagua. The county government is based in Bronstad.
Like all other counties except Cuanstad and the Assimas Islands, Saint Florian's has very little authority, which has led to very low participation in county elections and government, with the average turnout for county elections only being around 18%.
Economy
While the southern regions of Saint Florian's County is heavily reliant on Cuanstad, the further north one goes, the less reliant the economy is on Cuanstad, with agriculture being the predominant industry in the general area. The primary economic centre outside of the Cuanstad metropolitan area is located in Bronstad, which serves as a transportation hub for goods and people travelling between Cuanstad and both Knowleston and Nua Taois.
